Gifted Garter

I wanted to share a little bit of my crafting on my blog. I found an adorable garter on Etsy several months ago. My Friend Nicole thought that we could create one instead of paying someone else to do it. She is very good at organizing and pulling lots of things together, for showers, weddings, etc. She really should open a party/wedding planning business (: Her husband's cousin Lauren is getting married this summer, June 2nd. So we decided back in August to attempt to make this garter as a gift for her and then if it didn't work out we had plenty of time to find another one. So we decided on incorporating "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue" into this hand-crafted garter [it was an idea we got from Etsy as well].

Something Old - Pieces of material and lace from her aunt's veil and wedding dress and the seed pearls on the blue flower

Something New - The garter and the white linen flower and cream flower

Something Borrowed - The large pearl from a work friend's earring in the center of the cream flower

Something Blue - The blue flower...obviously (:

She was very excited and loved it a lot. And Nicole was right...it turned out very well and can be a sentimental keepsake long after the wedding! [We also made a toss garter that matched the main garter]

Oh what fun a crafting business would be!
